The Best Non-Toxic Household Cleaner

The best non-toxic household cleaner is in fact the ONLY household cleaner I will every use again. Let me just start off by saying that I have two boys, so messes in my home are an every day occurrence. They are now six and eight, but the messes have not gone away….they only get bigger 😉

Years ago when my kids started crawling and walking, just like any other Mom, I made sure all my cabinets were locked up. All the cleaning supplies were put up high and locked where they could never reach them.

As I would clean and spray down the areas where my kids would eat and touch frequently, I began to wonder if I was using chemicals that could hurt them in any way. After all, I was “cleaning”, but were the products I was using causing them more harm than good?

The straight up answer…….YES.

Have you ever read the label on cleaning products you have around your home? I urge you to take a look. They say things like “Avoid prolonged breathing of vapors.” and “Not recommended for use by persons with heart conditions or chronic respiratory problems such as asthma.”

My personal favorite, though, is “Hazards to humans and domestic animals.” SAY WHAT?!

Not sure how you feel about keeping your home clean, but those kind of statements make this Mama want to yell at myself for ever buying those kinds of products and having them around my kids and pets.

So you have a bottle of Thieves Household Cleaner, but how do you dilute it and begin to use? I mix one half of a cap full of the cleaner with 2 cups of water in a glass spray bottle. I also love to add a few drops of lemon or citrus scented essential oil, which makes the smell of the spray even more amazing 😉

There are different strengths that you can mix up depending on what you are trying to clean, but the most versatile is the all purpose mixture, which I just mentioned above.
