When I decided to become a stay at home mom 8 years ago, I would always look for little ways to save our family money or bring in some extra cash. Finding the best sales, cutting coupons, buying in bulk to save money…….you name it and I was doing it.

A lot has changed in my life in 8 years, but the one thing that has remained constant is my drive to bring in extra side cash. I am now a single mom raising two boys (did I mention they love to eat?) 🙂

These are a few of my favorite websites to earn extra cash. How much extra cash you may ask? The amount will vary, depending on the time and effort you put in to them. The more effort you put in, the more you will earn! And let me tell you…..doing a few extra things on the side may not seem like it matters, but it really starts to add up over time!

Ebates

Okay, friends…..Ebates is what I like to refer to as a “no-brainer” way to make extra money. Do you shop online? If the answer is yes, there is no reason why you should not be an Ebates member.

There are over 2,500 stores that are currently listed on Ebates, which means there is a very high chance that store(s) where you shop online are listed and you can earn cash back.

I have highlighted the steps to join below:

• Create an Ebates account
• Find and click on the store that you want to make an online purchase from
• Ebates will automatically open a new tab with the store’s website so that you can place your order
• Once the purchase is made, your Ebates account is usually credited within 24 hours

Sound easy? That’s because it is!! Ebates also has some stores that offer cash back made from in store purchases (refer to their website for this list). The percentage of cash back you can receive is always changing. Be sure to look out for the double and triple cash back bonus days! 🙂

Ebates always has some kind of referral promotion going on. The latest promotion is if you sign up for Ebates (using my link below) and spend $25.00 within the qualified period of time, you earn an extra $10.00. That’s it! Easy!!

My Ebates Tip – Make a list of stores/items you would like to purchase online in the next few months. If you aren’t in a hurry to order, wait until double or triple cash back is offered! Since this changes daily, be sure to check out the website for the latest cash back percentages.

Ibotta

I had heard good things about Ibotta for a while and finally decided to give it a try recently. I wish I would have hopped on the Ibotta train sooner!!

With Ibotta, you can either link your store loyalty card to your account (if the store is included in their program) OR download their app. When you download the app, you search for products at whatever store you are shopping at, add the items to your cart, upload your receipt and your account will be credited for qualified items within 48 hours. Don’t forget that offers do expire, so earn them while you can!

Sound too good to be true? I thought the same thing until I started using the app and saw how easy it was. Again, you will be surprised at how quickly the cash starts to add up. I definitely prefer using this to cutting coupons. So much easier and no coupons to lose in your purse since it is all saved in your phone! 🙂

Once you hit the withdraw threshold of $20.00, you can cash out your Ibotta earnings. You can do so by selecting a gift card from numerous retailers or have your money sent to a PayPal or Venmo account.

When you sign up today and create a NEW account, you will receive a welcome bonus. The welcome bonus changes often. For example, when I first created my account and earned $10.00 on qualifying purchases, I earned a welcome bonus of $10.00.

My Ibotta Tip – plan out your shopping list ahead of time. DO NOT wait until you get to the store. Create a list and add the items into your cart before you head to the store so that you can easily find them (if needed) when you are there. Even add items that you might possibly buy. If you don’t end up purchasing them, you can delete them out of your cart before uploading your receipt.

Ipsos I-say Surveys

Ipsos I-say is a website where you can complete surveys for points and then get rewards such as cash paid to a PayPal account or gift cards. You need to qualify for surveys in order to take them, so they have you answer a few quick questions when you register. This determines which surveys they send you to complete.

The amount of surveys you complete obviously depends on how much cash you can earn, so this will vary for everyone. This is something I like to do at night after my kids go to bed. It’s a way for me to relax and why not earn some cash or gift cards while I’m at it!?

Besides earning cash, you can also qualify to test new products that are still in the development stage with companies. I have been sent free items to test quite a few times. That includes everything from a brand new Keurig machine with K-cups (yes, I’m serious!) to perfume to paper towels to frozen pizzas! Then you are asked to complete a survey with your feedback after the testing phase is over. It is very worth the time for free products and is also a fun thing that my kids enjoy doing, too!

My Ipsos I-say Tip – Be sure to play the “Poll Predictor” game at the end of each survey you complete. They are fun and a great way to enter chances to win a ton of different giveaways!

Selling Items Online

Have extra items you don’t use anymore cluttering up your house? How about toys or clothes that your kids have outgrown? You can make some serious cash by selling items you no longer use.

I am a member of Nextdoor.com This website offers you the opportunity to post items for sale within certain boundaries of where you live. In order to join, you enter your residential address and your email address. If there is already a Nextdoor neighborhood for your area, you will automatically be assigned to that neighborhood. If there is not, you have the option of creating one.

Once your address is verified and you have activated your account, you can invite your neighbors to join via the website. There are a lot of different categories that you can post in on the site, but there is a marketplace where you can put items up for sale.

My Nextdoor Website tip – Put up as many details about an item you would like to sell as you can (color, quality, size, exact dimensions, etc.). Be sure to include a few pictures! I don’t know anyone who would buy an item without at least seeing a picture of it first.

Facebook also has a lot of local groups you can join to post and sell items for extra cash. If there is not a group created for the area where you live, there is also a Facebook Marketplace that you can use.
