You can keep it simple by only adding the ingredients I have in the recipe, or you can add fresh mushrooms, peppers or grape tomatoes. Capers add some great flavor too. It all depends on what you prefer. Go ahead and experiment and make this Pasta with Italian Sausage and Broccoli recipe your own!
Ingredients
- 1 pound of Rigatoni pasta (or whichever type of pasta you prefer)
- 1 1/2 pounds of ground Italian sausage
- 3-4 cloves of garlic
- 1 medium head of broccoli
- Olive oil to taste
- Salt and pepper to taste
- Fresh shredded parmesan cheese
Instructions
- Mince fresh garlic and set aside.
- Cut broccoli into small florets and place in a microwave safe bowl.
- Cook Italian sausage in a large skillet. Once the sausage begins to brown, add the minced garlic.
- Add a small amount of water to the broccoli and microwave for 2-3 minutes, or until tender.
- Boil the noodles until al dente, drain and set aside.
- Once the sausage is finished cooking, add the broccoli and stir.
- Slowly add the noodles and 2-3 tablespoons of olive oil to the skillet.
- Continue to add olive oil to your liking, or at least until all the noodles are coated.
- Season with salt and pepper.
- Sprinkle shredded parmesan cheese on top and serve.
